Course Content Information
It is delivered by trainers who have over 20 years of front line emergency medical experience as ambulance paramedics and technicians, allowing us to blend our knowledge with real life experiences.
Intended audience
People aged 16+ in organisations that require additional first aid training and qualified first aiders.
Theory covered
This course is carried out over 3 days and includes:
- Accidents and illness
- Using a first aid kit
- Simple record keeping
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
- Heart attacks
- Resuscitation
- Shock / Choking / Seizures / Bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Poisoning
- Fractures
- Asthma
- Severe allergic reaction
- Eye injuries
- Low blood sugar
- Fainting

Training details
In addition to the topics covered on the Emergency First Aid at Work course, this also covers treatment for a variety of injuries and medical conditions.
Assessment & certification
Upon completion of a final assessment candidates will receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years, however it is recommended to attend a refresher course on an annual basis before the certificate expires, where you will resit the 3 day course. Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be recognised as first aiders in the workplace, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
